Montana has enacted Stage II Fire Restrictions throughout all Flathead, Lincoln, Sanders, and Lake counties.

– All open burning is prohibited (NO CAMPFIRES).

– All motorized vehicles must keep to trails and roads

– No cigarette smoking outside of cleared areas

– No internal combustion engines (chainsaws) from 1pm-1am.

– No blowtorches (this should be fairly obvious, no?)

– If you do use a device that ‘may’ spark during operable hours, you must patrol the area for one hour afterwards to ensure that no sparks started fires.

There are currently two NEW fires in the Flathead National forest near Essex. This adds to the over 80 fires burning in our region.

Be smart. Fires can start so easily in this dry, hot weather.
